Final Test - PET Scan

April 16, 2014

We took our mom to the Huntsman Cancer Institue for a PET scan this week. This is the final testing that will determine if my mom has frontotemporal dementia or alzheimer's.

We were very lucky to get her to the appointment with much success and no complications with getting her there. She went peacefully and we didn't have to persuade her much to get her to go. My mom absolutely refused to get this test done at her last doctor appointment, so it was a blessing that her attitude changed, and she made it easy for us this time.

The test lasted 2 hours long. The part that was not fun for her was laying on a hard table that hurt her back (luckily her back felt much better after a hour or so) and getting an IV inserted into her arm. We will now wait for the results to be sent over to the neurologist and wait until we have an appointment with the doctor until we find out the final results. We hope to have the results soon!

We took my mom out to lunch afterwards because she wasn't able to eat before the procedure so she was pretty hungry by lunch time. We stopped by Whole Foods. She loves their pizza there. She thinks Whole Foods is a fun place to go to with the many of choices they have. Memories were made there like a fork with cantaloupe being put in faces, movie star names, taste testing cookies & desserts, watching a persons drink explode, the sad face of my mom when she mentioned she failed the written DMV test, and etc.

Until next time..... I'll definitely write an update about the test results.

Shooting Some Hoops

April 16, 2014

Grandma Tiger has a basketball hoop at her house. Paul and I were over at her house today and got her out to shoot some hoops with us. There was no hesitation on if she wanted to or not. I asked her if she wanted to shoot some hoops and she got right up from the couch and came outside. I will have to admit that she made more shots than I did.

I know that she has had a fun time shooting some hoops before with her granddaughters, Savannah and Sammy.

It is always nice to see her active with a smile on her face! Did I mention the weather was just perfect and beautiful outside with the blue sky? The weather was really perfect. Just the way my mom likes it!

Baby Lily May Is Here

April 04, 2014

My mom has been so excited that she was expecting another granddaughter to be born this month! She has loved to talk about baby, Lily. The day finally arrived for Lily to make her grand appearance so we could meet her! Lily was born April 3, 2014, in the afternoon hour.

I drove my mom and I up to Ogden a few hours after Lily was born, to the Ogden Regional Medical Center. Lily weighed 6lbs 14oz, 19 inches long, and is a bundle of perfection and cuteness that we can't wait to get our hands on again!

Grandma Tiger enjoyed holding Lily for quite awhile and just rocked her in a hospital rocking chair and kept mentioning how cute Lily is. It was a precious moment that my mom and I could visit at the hospital on the day that Lily May was born to the amazing parents, Jon and Jamie.

My mom had excitement in her eyes & in her talk on the drive up to the hospital and on the drive back. This day was a great day for her. I could tell it was one of her best days of her life that she could add into her book of "best days of her life"!  I know if I asked her right now if it was, she would agree with me, and have a smile on her face!

Lily May is loved by Grandma Tiger!
